I had a Destination Wedding symbolic ceremony in 1/2011 (hated it) is it wrong to a real wedding 1/2012?

The wedding in the Dominican Republic is not valid in the US b/c of a paperwork issue so we need to get 'legally married' anyway. I got food poisoning the day before the wedding and my entire wedding/honeymoon I spent in bed. I regretted not having my mom and other family and friends at the wedding so I was thinking of have a real church wedding Jan 2012. Do you think that is tacky? People already refer to us as married how would we word the invites? Thanks for any input you can give me on this. I am rally conflicted on what to do.
