Free Wi-Fi on Verizon Blackberry in another country?

I have a Verizon Blackberry and I am going away to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic this summer. I know that I'd be charged extra for using any of the 3G features overseas, but if I turn off the mobile network and only use internet-related things through the resort's free wifi on my phone, will I be charged for anything I use that wifi network for by Verizon (BBM, browser, email, etc.)?
